Friendship Meals The meal program provides nutritionally balanced meals at noon, Monday through Friday. At Friendship Meals you will find companionship, group activities and practical information on diet and exercise. Both the meal and the information provided are designed to assist Seniors to remain healthy, independent and living in their own home. Last fiscal year we served a total of 5035 meals over a total of 250 days, not counting weekends and days we were closed due to holidays and weather. The meals are now cooked here on site. The kitchen remodel is complete and we have new staff in the kitchen. Our new cook is Sharon Fleming, and the new assistant cook is Eric Hamilton. Sharon is an excellent cook and the food has been very good. There is no set fee for the meals, but the suggested donation is posted at the meal site. Participants are encouraged to contribute to the cost of the meal according to their ability to pay. No eligible person is denied a meal due to the inability to pay. Funding for Friendship Meals is provided through Elder Care, Inc., Southwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging, the Kansas Department On Aging, and the Older Americans Act. Individual contributions are always welcome. |
